# Hello! I am a new plant parent and am feeling a bit lost :( This is…

Hello! I am a new plant parent and am feeling a bit lost :( This is Bromelli, a Bromeliad. I have only had her for a week, i purchased from a flower market. I noticed the leaves turning brown and am not sure what to do. I am thinking it could be a drainage problem? She currently lives in my indoor pool room so i doubt that light or humidity is the issue here. Are the roots supposed to be this brown color?

If anyone has any tips or advice that would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏾 please let me know if i can save her or if it’s already too far gone 🥲thank you!!!

Sooo this is the thing about bromeliads lol:

They only live about 2 years. And they’re sold when they’re about 2 years old, because the last stage of their life is when they create an inflorescence (group of flowers)

So the bad news is that this guy is gonna start going downhill.

The good news is that the plant should make a pup (baby plant) pretty soon. Once the pup gets big enough or the original plant dies, you can remove the pup and have a new bromeliad.

I feel jipped! Lol but thank you so much! I will keep an eye on it and hopefully see a new pup soon. Appreciate your response 🧡

No problem! I love bromeliads so I buy them anyway and then wait for them to make babies haha
