# Help! Two of my plants are going through similar problems. My mint is…

Help! Two of my plants are going through similar problems. My mint is yellowing at the tips then turning brown shortly after (falling off while mostly yellow). This has happened twice now, once with a potted pretty large mint, which I took a good cutting from then propagated trying to same any of it. The mother plant died but the propagation has stayed strong. Until now, when its beginning to do the same thing. It has full light and is still in water? I've never had issues with mint before so a bit confused. The second plant is a small Monstera, it's in a mixed tropical soil from a friend and a terracotta pot, watered on schedule and partial light but I just keep getting yellowed leaves. Pictured are the second and third leaves I've had that have gone completely yellow with no explanation.... anyone have a clue?

Can speak to the mint but the monstera is probably overwatered.
Schedules are useless. You need to be feeling the soil. A monstera wants to be 75% or more dry before you water it, otherwise they’ll rot.

I agree with probably overwatering. Following Planta’s schedule is not always correct. There are way too many variables to totally rely on it. Use it as a guide only. I often will not water when it says. My Janet Craig was on the schedule for watering today but when I checked it was still too wet. So I snoozed it. On the other hand, my Peacock Plant was dry. It was five days before watering was scheduled.

Def agree about schedules and more meant when needed but am having a difficult time seeing anything I type on this app. My depression hit hard so I was more worried about under watering or something fungal bc I havent been as on it. Thanks!

Dang hon, that’s hard! Been there before. Some of my plants didn’t make it.
You can count on us to be here for you. ♥️

Same. My monsteras especially are more often still too wet when Planta tells me to water.
I appreciate terra cotta right now. It gives me a chance to actually DO something with my plants, even though it’s cold weather. 😁

Seen from some videos the mint might to switch to soil instead of water. Over saturated roots can cause leave to turn yellow. The mint need Humidity has to be cooler temperature and get a grow light

I have grow lights and the mother plant was in soil, this is the propagation that was doing well hydroponically until now. Was thinking it's more a fungal issue. Thank you for the help, I've been depressed so they get the brunt of it but so confused on how I'm still overwatering 😭
