# Has anyone else had this problem with a money tree before? Every one…

Has anyone else had this problem with a money tree before? Every one of mine, and I’ve had three (this one being my fourth), has gotten these white spots on the leaves, and with two of them the leaves eventually turned brown and fell off and the tree dried down to a sort of husk. I tried using water that isn’t from the tap so there’s no chlorine issue, I tried watering them more frequently, less frequently, giving them less light, watering with plant food and without it, but the problem is consistent. Any diagnosis? None of my other 25+ plants have any issue like this so I doubt it’s a pest…

My money tree has similar problems on some of the leaves and it happens once every couple of months but has survived for about 4 years now. If you figure out what it is let me know!

I’ve heard someone say these are burns, but that wouldn’t make sense to me because the “burnt” leaves get the least light… maybe that’s the problem? But when I gave them more light (and slightly more humidity to compensate) they burnt brown and fell off, so I’m very confused. It’s such a finicky plant for me compared to other “higher maintenance” plants

I’ve had the same experience. The leaves that get the spots on it aren’t facing the light and any time I try to compensate with more light or make any change to the plant it’s health seems to deteriorate so I typically leave it alone and it has weeks where it thrives and weeks where half the tree has those spots on it. It’s very weird

Exactly! Reddit hasn’t had any good answers about the cause or remedy either, so I just hope this time my tree goes through the cycles like yours has been doing instead of dying like the other two did. Thanks for letting me know I’m not the only one!
