# I noticed some fungus gnats in my snake plant. I put some river rocks…

I noticed some fungus gnats in my snake plant. I put some river rocks of the top and have sprayed with neem oil for the past couple of days. I will let it dry out completely before I water. Should this help get rid of the gnats?

Making sure the soil is completely dry before watering will help prevent gnats x

What type of soil are you using?

Probably not the best… just an indoor plant mix from Lowe’s. Do you have any suggestions for a soil mix?

Eeeks, yeah those can be infested with fungus gnat eggs as well. I use a combo of cactus succulent soil from Target (it’s better since it’s kept entirely indoors instead of pseudo outside/inside) and then perlite and orchid bark. For a snake plant they originally are from Africa, so they like very chunky aerated soil, could even add some sand made for plants into the mix too.
