# My house plant is yellowing in the leaves AND they are turning brown…

My house plant is yellowing in the leaves AND they are turning brown and crispy on the ends of each leaf.
I would like to know what to do to fix this.
-Plant food?
-More/less water
-How often should I put it out side to get air and sun?
ALSO
I have mulch in my garage.
Would this be okay to add to it?
Idk if that would help.
Should I add/change the soil that the planting is in?
ONE MORE THING!! 🫠😂🌱🌱🪴🪴
Is it in the right sized planter?
I am not sure how the roots work for this plant and don't know if it needs a bigger planter.
Thank yall so much for all the feed back and information!! 😊😊🙏🏼
✨✨🌱🪴🌱✨✨

-Plant food for sure. I use cleankelp at every watering for all of my 50+ plants. Have been fed the past 8 months. They love it! I make a gallon jug of plant water at a time and do a couple of drops of api tap water conditioner and this time of year 10ml of the fertilizer.

-You want to physically be checking the soil moisture when planta’s notification pops up. The best way I’ve found to do this is with a bamboo skewer. Push it into the soil to the bottom of the pot and pull it out after 1-2 minutes. Similar to checking if brownies are done with a toothpick—any moisture or clumps on the skewer, snooze the notification. How long you snooze will depend on how wet the stick was. Be sure your pot size, soil type, drainage, near ac/vent \& etc selections are filled in on the plant’s settings. Planta cannot account for every single thing in your individual micro-climate, but filling in these things helps to more accurately estimate that plants watering needs.

-you don’t have to put it outside unless you want to. If it’s kept indoors or outdoors, you’ll want to place it in the appropriate lighting needs that particular plant has. If your spot you want it in indoors doesn’t have adequate light, you can get a grow light for it, which is usually best to be on for a minimum of 8-12 hours.

-mulch retains a lot of moisture so I wouldn’t recommend adding that. You want a well draining soil for indoor plants. I use the same soil mix for all of my plants, and just add more pea gravel and sand for my succulents/cactus. You can get a basic houseplant soil and just add more perlite to it at a minimum, doing 2 parts soil to 1 part perlite for most houseplants.

-you want your plant to be in a pot that is 1-2 inches larger than the root ball. I recommend waiting at least 2 weeks to repot a new plant to give it time in between stressors (acclimating to new environment and repotting are both stressful to a plant) unless it’s really in poor shape due to possible root rot. after this time period you can pull it out and examine the roots and repot it in the appropriate sized pot with drainage holes and replace soil.
