# Anyone else have issues with algae growing in your pots? They do not…

Anyone else have issues with algae growing in your pots? They do not get watered until they are completely dry and they live in a chunky soil mix. They are placed in a window, which I know light causes algae but is there any way to avoid this? Will it affect my plants at all?

This happens if water + sunlight mixes.

If you cover the jars and make it dark, the algae will die.

I also noticed orange jars don’t seem to grow algae as fast but I normally just sit the clear ones either in another pot or I wrap the bottom with something.

I’d cover the pot in black tape so algae can’t grow back, water + sun +clear pot = algae

it’s because of the clear plastic pot! the sunlight hitting the moist soil can cause algae to grow. i’d put the plastic pot inside a more decorative pot so the sun doesn’t hit the soil
