# So on a sunny day here in England I let my plants have a little…

_Opslået af Merry den 2024-07-23_

So on a sunny day here in England I let my plants have a little sunbathe and hosed them down for a drink… now a lot of them are looking like my poor spider plant. What did I do wrong and how do I save them? 😭 I thought they’d all e joy a shower and sunbathe, clearly not though

Thank you in advanced

It’s probably sunburn, leaving water on the leaves and letting them sit outside after always being inside will do it, especially without much acclimation

Oh no! I thought I was being super nice to my plants letting them sunbathe 😭

It’s okay lol, it seems like the right thing to do for our babies but it’s definitely not that great, as eatyacarbs said it’s causing them to go into shock changing the conditions that fast. You can bring them outside for a quick spritz down or if you’re treating pests, but definitely still bring them inside right after. I’d probably cut off the sunburnt parts and baby them for awhile inside. Water on the leaves is like a magnifying glass and the sun gets directed into a pinpointed spot on the leaves and burns it, just like the game we’d play as kids on the sidewalk or on a blade of grass with a magnifying glass

I never recommend bringing plants outside for a sun visit. If plants are going out it needs to be done gradually and then they need to stay out for the season. Beyond sunburn and the issue of wet leaves in the sun that Alyssa already mentioned, bringing them in and out, changing conditions like that (temperature, humidity, light) so drastically is detrimental to your plants. They prefer consistency. We live and we learn!

And here’s me thinking I was doing a nice thing xx

It is sunburn, after getting water all over your plant the leaving it out in the sun will make your plant get sunburn

They will burn even if the leaves are dry. I’m a witness.

Really? I thought it was only if it was wet

Ohh I feel so sad for them. My poor babies
