# Some of my leaves have browned and my succulent isn’t growing…

_Publié par Abby le 2024-11-18_

Some of my leaves have browned and my succulent isn’t growing straight up:(. I’m sure the growing straight part isn’t as big of a problem but should I cut off those leaves? Or leave them? The browning hasn’t gotten any worse so I’m not sure if it had to do with the environment my succulent was in. Any advice on what to do about the leave or the leaning would be much appreciated!!

I think a terracotta pot would be nice for it to dry out faster. I’ve found succulents prefer them to glazed ceramic or plastic. The soil looks, and if the roots look healthy when repotting don’t stress about it being a little brown that’s normal for any plant :)

Your Echeveria likes full sun; it may be leaning because it wants more light. You can put a grow light on it, which would be the best option, or you can just keep turning your plant so that it gets as much even sun as possible, on all sides. Also, if I have a plant that leans too much, I will use a stake to help prop it up… even something like a chopstick, will do. Hope this helps… 🤗💚🪴

I agree that a clay pot, loose draining soil, and lots of light are best conditions in my experience. I error on the dry side - especially going into dormancy. They need very little water until spring growth appears.

I cut damaged leaves off, within reason, to allow plant energy to be used for growth and health. Those leaves will not improve and will pull extra energy from the plant in an effort to heal them. But I never remove more than 1/4-1/3 of damaged leaves at one time, as that creates stress.
Best of luck 🪴
