# I rescued this from my mom, I think it’s a jade plant but I’m not…

I rescued this from my mom, I think it’s a jade plant but I’m not sure what’s needed to get it flourishing, There are a lot of new branches and leaves coming through  
But it seems like it’s not rooting properly!!! My mom said it’s always been like this ??

Soil could be too compacted, try grab a chop stick and breaking it up, or you can just put it in fresh soil

I might just repot it with fresh soil I think , the current one is very dusty , thank you for your help.

It could just be the angle of the photos, but the pot looks like its much to shallow for a jade.  
I would repot into a standard depth pot that’s slightly smaller or the same size in diameter than the pot you currently have it in.

This definitely looks to shallow. I would guess thats why the roots are bulging out the top like that. Try and find a pot thats deep enough to completely fit the root ball with some extra space at the bottom for the roots to grow down and enough space at the top that you can completely cover the top of the roots.
