The new shoot on my monstera Thai cons is yellow and browning while still in the petiole. Does this mean the shoot will abort? Never seen this before.

I've had this happen to my monstera before once it did turn into a leaf but it had that brown on it and another time it didn't unfold. Sorry its a 50/50 chance, it could go either way.

Some times water can have get inside the petiole and will lead to rot

I evidently had mine in to big of a pot and was over watering so this happened to my newest leaves. All the variation part is the first part that gets affected. I did let her grow out and cut off all the black variation and now she’s already giving me a new leaf! It’s worth to now underwater for a little bit. Let the leaf do what it’s gotta do and see what happens. I tell my funky leaf every day I love her more bc she is different! lol 😂

What mine looked like emerging it was black in the center. Where the variegated part was.
