# Help! My new, crowded Giant Taro/Elephant Ear from Home Depot needs…

_Publié par Marissa le 2025-05-27_

Help! My new, crowded Giant Taro/Elephant Ear from Home Depot needs some assistance. I have a grow light arriving ✨today✨ so that I can get this beauty the light it needs, but what else if anything can I do to save this plant? It looks way too crowded to me and the lower leaves are suffering and/or not developing well. Can I trim it up? Trim the bottom leaves? Split it up into multiple pots?

Plants often experience shot being moved from one environment to another. Just water it as normal, it’ll loose some leaves but should be okay! Trim off the yellow/dead leaves - they won’t return.

Thank you!! In general does this fullness look okay, or is it excessive/harmful to the plant?

That looks pretty normal to be. I brought an alocasia black velvet home once and it dropped all it’s leaves but they returned!
