# Needing some mealy bug remedies!! I’m visiting my mom and noticed…

Needing some mealy bug remedies!! I’m visiting my mom and noticed that her monstera is infested ☹️ neither of us have ever had mealy bugs, so we’re not sure how to get rid of them. Any tips? They’re on almost every leaf.

oh noooo

get some bonide annual tree and shrub liquid systemic. I have had better success against mealy bugs with this formulation vs the indoor houseplant version (it’s a much higher imidacloprid concentration.). You’ll want to do 1 table spoon per 2 gallons of water and water thoroughly (put a saucer under so there’s no run off). Redo in 14 days. It’ll knock em out. 👍

For a natural remedy, get some neem oil. Mix a couple of teaspoons with a few drops of washing up liquid in 1 litre of water, and spray! Repeat a couple of weeks later. Should be good 👍

You can use a q tip soaked in 70% isopropyl alcohol and that will dissolve the individuals on the leaves. I haven’t had any success with neem oil with mealy bugs. Good luck!

I have had one mealy bug infestation, I sprayed the entire plant with 70% alcohol every 3 days (for 3 treatments) kept it in a dimly lit area, and… mealy bugs gone. I know a lot of people will not agree with this, but two nursery owners told me to do this, and I would do it again, it was an easy and extremely cost effective remedy.Look up Rooted Plant Shop on Facebook as well, she is awesome!
