# HELP! My mini monstera and zebra plant were doing well but recently…

_Publicado por Stoney el 2025-07-19_

HELP! My mini monstera and zebra plant were doing well but recently their health has declined. Mini monstera has yellowing leaves and small new leaves and the zebra plant has small pale new leaves. Sunlight and watering hasn’t changed. No signs of pests but starting to think that might be the case??

Multiple Planta diagnosis of my mini monstera said it’s a lack of light but the most recent diagnosis said it might have thrips. I can’t see any thrips with a magnifying glass but maybe I’m missing them??

Even if sunlight and watering haven’t changed, are they the right amount and frequency? Your plants could just be slowly dying rather than thriving. The damage honestly looks physical to me and not the result of thrips. Small leaves typically means not enough light.

So I’ve had them since January and they they seemed to be doing well during the grey months with less light but now that they are getting more light in the summer they aren’t doing well. My house doesn’t get much light and all windows face north. So maybe they weren’t ever really doing well and I’m just now seeing the signs? Also there is a lot more humidity during the grey months and now it’s pretty dry. Maybe that’s it?

A north facing window is likely not enough light. While I’m sure your plants would appreciate high humidity, i don’t think that’s the issue here. I’d acclimate them outside or supplement with a grow light

I had a struggling mini monstera, it said lack of light. I moved it without help. Planta is recommending it move to shade now. Idk

Check your soil on the zebra plant. Mine was droopy and I checked it. Soil was dry so I watered the heck out of her and she’s doing much butter overnight. I was watering like Planta app says but it’s not enough
