# I’ve had problems with this Alocacia plant since I’ve had it in late…

_Posted by Birb on 2025-05-21_

I’ve had problems with this Alocacia plant since I’ve had it in late April. It’s routinely been losing leaves and its last leaf it lost turned pale and rotted. I checked the roots when I took it out and it looks like possible rot. Would you agree with this and if so/or not what should I do?

I don’t see root rot. It would be stinky to smell and the roots would be mushy. Are you sure it’s not pests? These are notorious for spider mites

I haven’t noticed any mites. That’s what wondered a long while ago.

I would repot with new soil and chop the leaves off and restart

It had a roommate which is thriving. They were both potted together.

I’m not sure this tells us information about the alocasia because their care requirements and ideal conditions are not the same. Pothos are also more resilient than alocasia imo
