# Any clue what’s wrong with my burgundy rubber tree? Its leaves have…

_Publié par Ana le 2024-05-11_

Any clue what’s wrong with my burgundy rubber tree? Its leaves have been curled up since soon after I bought it. It is currently in succulent soil and the roots look fine. I have a smaller stem from the same plant that is doing fine. I have tried everything, misting, watering more often, watering less often, etc. but nothing seems to get these leaves uncurled. Also, when is the right time to water these? I let the soil completely dry out, is that right?

Are the leaves soft? Let the soil completely dry out!

Is the soil dry or moist?

Currently, it is moist because I watered yesterday. But for the last few weeks I have been watering when it is completely dry. I checked yesterday and there is no root rot. The leaves are not soft, but not dried out either. Just curled up!

So apparently they can do this when they’re in a cold draft, when the soil is over or under watered, or when they aren’t getting enough light or nutrients. Reading up about it, they seem like they can be touchy. I’d struggle too. I even saw where someone said the soil may need to be aerated every once in a while before you water so you can get oxygen to the roots, so you can use chopsticks to gently move the soil a bit around the roots? Idk how helpful that is… But if you’ve ruled out everything else it may be worth a try. The draft thing got to me too—if it’s in a high-traffic area or near an air-conditioning unit or a vent it might be getting too much of a draft potentially? Other than that I’m at a loss too. So sorry this is happening to you and your poor plant! I hope you find a cause and can save it ❤️
