# Hi friends! I have this nice Watch Chain plant that’s been doing…

_Pubblicato da Kmey25 il 2024-09-07_

Hi friends! I have this nice Watch Chain plant that’s been doing pretty well, but, when I looked at the bottom I noticed this stuff. Some of it looks like mold :/ but the larger portion looks like eggs? Any ideas? Sorry the pic is a little blurry. Thank you in advance :)

this is a generally harmless fungus — just scrape it away a bit (or not) and sprinkle some cinnamon

From the images and description you provided, it seems like there are two possible issues happening with your Watch Chain plant:

\### 1. \*\*Mold or Fungal Growth\*\*:
\- The white, fuzzy-looking growth you see at the bottom of the pot could be mold or fungal growth. This is common when the soil stays too moist for too long, or if there is poor air circulation around the plant's roots.

\*\*Solution\*\*:
\- \*\*Remove affected soil\*\*: Gently remove the moldy part of the soil and ensure that the plant is in well-draining soil. If the mold is persistent, repot the plant in fresh soil.
\- \*\*Improve drainage\*\*: Ensure that the pot has proper drainage holes and that water is not sitting at the bottom.
\- \*\*Allow the soil to dry\*\*: Let the soil dry out more between waterings to prevent further mold growth.

\### 2. \*\*Eggs or Pest Infestation\*\*:
\- The white, egg-like structures at the bottom of the pot may indicate the presence of insect eggs or larvae, such as fungus gnats or other pests that thrive in moist soil.

\*\*Solution\*\*:
\- \*\*Inspect for pests\*\*: Check the soil and plant for signs of small flying insects or larvae. If you find pests, you can try treating the plant with a natural insecticide (like neem oil) or use sticky traps to catch any adult pests.
\- \*\*Repot if necessary\*\*: If the infestation is severe, it may be best to repot the plant with fresh soil and clean the pot thoroughly before reusing it.

\### General Tips:
\- \*\*Watering\*\*: Reduce the watering frequency, especially if the plant is indoors where evaporation is slower. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings.
\- \*\*Air Circulation\*\*: Increase air circulation around the plant by placing it in a spot with better airflow.
\- \*\*Cleaning the Pot\*\*: Clean the bottom of the pot to remove any leftover mold or organic material that might attract pests.

By addressing both potential issues, you should be able to get your Watch Chain plant back to health. Keep monitoring it for any new signs of mold or pests.
