Hey!! I recently discovered my Striped Dracaena has thrips in the soil, I was wondering what everybody believed was the best method to treat this issue. I don’t see any on my other plants, but I plan on just treating all of them just incase. Any tips/ advice is appreciated!! 🥹💕

How do you spot thrips in the soil?

I’m assuming that’s what they are. At least what they look like to me, I usually bottom water my plants. So when I went to take Mickey out of the decorative pot, I noticed some crawling out of the drainage holes. None of my other plants seem to have any, but I still want to treat them just incase.

If they’re in the soil, I’d suggest a repot along with a houseplant pesticide treatment that you’re comfortable with, some use systemic granules mixed in, others use neem oil mixed with Castille soap and water

I’m gonna guess it’s probably not thrips if you are noticing them crawling out the bottom. Thrips are soooo tiny they look like specs of dirt and I often need a magnifying glass to confirm them if no other signs are present. They also live mostly in the top of your soil. They lay there eggs in the leaves, the eggs drop to the soil and the larvae mature into adults and fly back up to the leaves repeating the process (hence why they’re such a pain to get rid of).

You can try a hydrogen peroxide/water mixture and top water your plant. As well as a foliage treatment. I’d see what happens with that and keep a close eye on it. If I notice any other signs I’d take more drastic action asap.
