# Saw this leaf on my Monstera and is this a bad thing or am I just…

Saw this leaf on my Monstera and is this a bad thing or am I just paranoid? Also, I’ve been using cinnamon on top of my plant soil to keep away the fungus nuts is that a good thing or a bad thing? And yes, my plant has drainage holes, but I have been using a potting mix that’s for like gardening soil.

Regular potting mix is too dense for monsteras. They like well draining soil. I’d guess that that is part of the issue with your plant.

I agree with plantlady, it could be signs of overwatering. I use an aroid soil mix for my monsteras

Switching to a chunky soil-less mix will help your plant thrive and also help eliminate fungus gnats (and your need for cinnamon).
