# Is my exotica yellowing? I’ve only had this plant for a month and I’m…

Is my exotica yellowing? I’ve only had this plant for a month and I’m not sure if I’m watering it correctly yet. I water when the leaves start to all curl a bit but not fully curled. The top two (used to be newest) leaves look yellowing but maybe it’s just that they’re newer and developing their color? I know new leaves are lighter (I have a brand new leaf this week that’s very light)

I’m feeling worried I ruined my plant before getting to know its needs :( it’s very cold where I am so I don’t want to repot yet. Any suggestions?

I’m not too worried! I think they probably just look a little yellower because they are young leaves!! Looks beautiful to me!

I see a healthy plant here; nothing to fret over. I water mine when the leaves are nice and curled. They bounce right back after a good drink. Follow me for plant adventures

Thank you! I’m always so nervous if the leaf curl is enough to water or if I should wait until there’s more curl. What’s the perfect amount of curl in your opinion?

I buy big packages of cheap wooden skewers (I pay $1 for 120 at Walmart) if you insert the skewer when your ready to water, I do weekly, if the stick is pulled out with moist soil, dont water; if its dry, water. 😀
