I don’t have a photo to share but I can offer a description- tiny flying black things that resemble gnats. Present when soil is wet. I let the soil dry out but the instant I add water a few start flying out from the soil I tried Neem oil once on a plant and it died shortly after. Maybe user error?

I had these happen to me before after setting my Aloe outside for a couple hours!

What I did was set her in a window by herself, with a curtain behind her so it kinda blocked anything else from getting in or out. I left her there for a couple of days, let her soil dry out fully, and that seemed to do the trick.

My advice is to try to isolate it inside by itself, in a place with no outside air, water or food nearby. Try to have nothing around for the bugs to enjoy. I’d let the soil fully dry out too. Good luck!! 🫶🏻

I struggle with fungus gnats too 🥲 You can use mosquito dunks or diluted hydrogen peroxide to flush the soil.

mosquito dunks or bits are an excellent solution. they contain a type of bacteria that will eat the eggs and larvae in the soil without sterilizing it like hydrogen peroxide will

usually the problem is soil content. i’ve eliminated fungus gnats by using a very coarse aerated soil for basically all of my plants. those that need more moisture have coconut coir mixed in instead of peat moss, which tends to grow mold and fungi that the fungus gnats will feed on. most commercial potting soils are too dense and heavy for indoor growing.
airflow and allowing the soil to dry out as much as the plant can tolerate between waterings will help if you choose not to repot.

Bonide systemic granules. Keep in mind that Neem watering as well as granules, mosquito bits, etc. ONLY help kill the larva in the soil. You will need to use something like sticky traps or a zevo plug in, to kill adults. So if you just use soil and water methods it will take weeks to see a difference (time for adults to die off).
