Does anyone know what’s happened to my begonia? I got her 3 days ago and she was just fine. it isn’t sunburn as she’s sat in a dark room quarantining from my other plants before I introduce her to my collection

She is in a self watering pot with regular water with a small bit of hydrogen peroxide in it (yes lower than 3%) because I have a small gnat problem and I don’t know if they’re in the soil I potted her in or not

I removed the water yesterday and replaced it with regular water with nothing in it when I saw that this was happening to her. the big leaf pictured is the only leaf that has gotten worse in the last 15 hours

Has it been reported since bringing it home? It could just be repot shock. The peroxide shouldn’t hurt it at all but it could have root rot if it was in a self watering pot at the store as well. Self watering pots are actually really bad for house plants. They keep the plant wet for far too long and cause root rot

I did repot it on saturday, and her roots didn’t have any signs of rot
also these spots aren’t mushy, they’re dry and crusty

My angel wing did the same thing when I repotted it. If it doesn’t loose more than a. Few leaves you’re probably fine and it’s just shock. The other thing it could be is if the crown of the plant was damaged which will kill most if not all the plant but I think it’s just a repot shock. Begonias are dramatic when being repotted sometimes.

If it’s dry and crusty could it be a humidity problem? If I’m not mistaken most begonias like humidity

I got her at the home depot and can say with confidence that her humidity levels haven’t changed since leaving the store lol

lol, no truer words have been said, Home Depot and Lowe’s definitely abuse their plants, yeah I’d go with everyone else and say repot shock. Maybe check her roots if it gets worse or spreads

thank you so much, I hope that’s all it is

Very true it is a humidity loving plant but just begonias like 50% or higher is what they prefer but most homes have an ambient if at least 40% so it shouldn’t be enough of a different to hurt it that bad.
