# Hi everyone! I’m kinda new to this, I had my small collection of home…

Hi everyone! I’m kinda new to this, I had my small collection of home plants for over a year but still learning. I follow the schedule or try to from the app, but I’m not sure what I’ve been doing wrong. It’s looking very sad, leaves are very wrinkly and there was some yellow leaves that I removed. I thought it was too dry but maybe I overwatered? Can I still save it? 😢

I’d recommend testing the soil moisture instead of following the app schedule perfectly! You can get a cheap soil moisture meter online or at a plant shop (I didn’t spend more than $12 and mine has worked great, no need for an expensive one)

You could also use a wooden chopstick— soil is dry when the chopstick comes out clean. This plant species does NOT like to dry out completely between waterings, so if the soil is dry, it will wilt. However, it can also wilt if the soil is staying wet and not draining properly. Checking the soil will be your best bet!

Oh that’s good to know!! Thank you so much, I’m buying one right now. It got really big too and full, I wonder if I need to repot or it would add more stress to it

This species isn’t usually sensitive to a repot! For mine, I do regular potting soil with added perlite for aeration.

Other recommendations:
\- ensure the soil is not hydrophobic. If there is a gap between the soil and the pot, the soil likely needs to be refreshed. You can also fix hydrophobic soil by allowing the pot to sit in a larger bowl of water for 30 minutes or so, usually.
\- make sure the roots are not becoming root bound

This definitely looks underwatered. Most pothos do prefer to dry out between waterings, but I just wait until the leaves curl or get droopy before watering.

I agree it’s overwatered. The planta app tends to overwater plants. Gotta chk the soil
