Does anyone know what is wrong with this plant I have been gifted?
I think it is a corn plant but not 100% sure and it doesn’t look very healthy. Can anyone help?

I think it is a Dracaena Janet Craig. Don’t have a definitive on the brown areas but I do know they need RO or distilled water. Rain water may work also. With most tap water the leaves have issues, possibly like yours.

i agree with Phil about the plant type, and i think the brown could be from either being close to a heater/AC vent or overwatering - these guys can go for a bit without water. i would check the roots for any rotting, and repot into a chunky well draining mix if you do find rot. make sure you water only when the soil is at least halfway dry - you can check with the chopstick or skewer method
good luck :)
