# Hello! I saved this beautiful guy yesterday. He has plastic wrapping…

_Posted by Amy on 2025-08-14_

Hello!
I saved this beautiful guy yesterday.
He has plastic wrapping around him so I didn’t realise how droopy he was.
He has some pretty bad leaves on him that I cut off, all crispy and sad :(
I took his pot off and saw that his roots looked all healthy and nice. No pests at all too which is good! However… his soil was bone dry!!
I’m assuming he is like this because he wanted a drink but please give me any tips and suggestions for him.
I know calatheas don’t particularly like tap water but I have a filter on my tap and another brita filter too. Just incase I’ve ordered some water conditioner for him.
Hopefully with time he will perk up a bit.
Any tips will be greatly appreciated!

He’ll be thirsty! I thought I killed mine when I found it drooping down to the floor, I left it soaking in water and came back the next day to sadly throw it away and it had perked up and was looking glorious like nothing had ever happened.

I got it from a super market last year in a similar state to yours not really expecting it to survive, but it did and it’s getting huge now!

You were right! He still has some crispy leaves but he has definitely perked up since :))
