# I bought a plant with rotten roots 😢 I kind of knew from the start…

I bought a plant with rotten roots 😢
I kind of knew from the start but it wasnt too bad at first. I cut the bad roots, sanitized and replaced the soil with slightly damp chunky soil last week. Unfortunately it seems the remaining roots have rotted as well 😭
I decided to cut the vines connected to the roots and just propagate. But i left the vines that seemed to be subsisting solely off aerial roots in the moss pole. Any advice? 🙏🏻

These don’t look rotted to me, are they slimy mush? If anything they look a bit dry. Some plants have white roots, but a lot have brown or red roots; doesn’t mean they’re rotted.

If you have the plant still in the pole with roots that should be fine as long as you don’t let the moss dry out completely.

Thank you! I’ll keep an eye on the moss 🙏🏻
Unfortunately the roots were white and strong a week ago but today they are soft mushy and brown. They were coming off with just a gentle touch and the leaves were turning yellow :/

Yea, that’s rot. I think you’ve got the right idea though.
