Is that a self watering pot, by chance? I don’t have an answer for you, but it is such a crazy coincidence…I logged onto this app because I just bought self watering pots and planted seedlings for the first time a couple weeks ago and I noticed today that the dirt had mold just like this! I wanted to know if it was normal and I opened the app to your post at the top of my feed. Random!

No it’s not a self watering pot but I feel your pain!!

It looks more like mineral buildup from watering than mold to me. In my experience, this doesn’t harm the plant at all, just kind of looks unsightly. You can stir around the top inch or so of the soil to hide it, but nothing to be worried about

Awesome!! Thanks so much! That’s what I’ve been doing is stirring it around and they seem to be still growing great!

If you use a little bit of a chunkier soil mix it’ll not happen! Had the same probably but realized it wasn’t distributing throughout the soil, creating a water bubble on the top soil, creating mold!

It's also possible that it could be flowerpot parasol. They look very similar to mold when the mushrooms start to grow out of the mycellium. But for this one i agree on the mineral buildup
