queen violet is blooming but she has this powdery, sand like white stuff on her leaves and I just want to make sure it’s not a sign of something very bad!

any chance this is in the kitchen and someone was baking and some flour got into the air and onto these leaves? 😅

otherwise it looks a bit like powdery mildew

it’s sitting right under a crack in the ceiling so i’m hoping it’s from that 😂 I knocked it all off with a paint brush and just gonna wait and see if it comes back!

You could try using a soft bristle toothbrush to clean the leaves. It kinda looks dirt. Kinda looks a fungal infection as well though

thank you! I just cleaned the top and bottom of the leaves so fingers crossed. my worst nightmare is thrips so as long as it doesn’t look like that 😖

Her blooms are so beautiful though!! Mine is growing some new blooms rn and I’m excited

It’s definitely not thrips — mealybugs if anything. But it does look like drywall dust 🤞

I use micro fiber towel to wipe my violet leaves. Or soft towel.

this ended up being overfertilization which caused crystal build up and then leaf rot! this is her now, wish her well
