# Ok plant parent professionals! I’m in prevention mode after my battle…

_Gepostet von Amie206 am 2024-03-01_

Ok plant parent professionals! I’m in prevention mode after my battle with pests last fall. This is a new-ish baby for me. Overall doing well. Had one yellow leaf so backed off the watering to dry before watering again. Then in doing “inspections” more religiously, I noticed the speckling on the back of one of the leaves and then the spotting on another leaf. I treated with a neem concoction two (?) weeks ago as prevention and discovered these symptoms yesterday. Other things to note - sits under a grow light 12 hrs a day with a humidifier running. Thoughts?

The small spots could be the plant getting rid of excess water and salts (guttation). It’s normal when the roots send more water to the leaves than the plant can transpire through the pores as water vapor. So, it pushes out water droplets. Excess salts can be pushed out through the guttation process. Note, too high humidity makes it harder for plants to transpire.

My hygrometer bit the dust just before I brought this plant home and I haven’t picked up another yet…….so definitely could be the issue.

Also, wouldn’t I see that on other leaves as well? Right now it’s concentrated on just one of them
