# HELP. We bought this plant a few weeks ago with the intention of…

_Posted by Shaina \& JP on 2026-04-03_

HELP. We bought this plant a few weeks ago with the intention of saving it… as you can see it has not been saved. Here are a few issues we have found:
\- curling leaves at the top
\- yellowing baby leaves at the stem
\- rotting where new leaves should grow / stems falling off
\- browning of leaves.

We are about to investigate the roots but this is our first monstera. Any advice would be appreciated! 🌱

Definitely looks like it’s been overwatered and is dealing with root rot. It might need new soil (make sure it’s chunky) and don’t water it until the soil is relatively dry

I had the same problem with one of my Monstera’s not to long ago and it turned out. I was over watering and also had her in too big of a pot if they’d like to be root bound and tight.

Same here. I put mine in too big of a pot, and she couldn't handle that much wet dirt.
