# What’s wrong with my Thai con monstera?! It has an LED full spectrum…

_Posted by PLANTS!!🪴🌱 on 2026-10-25_

What’s wrong with my Thai con monstera?! It has an LED full spectrum grow light, I water when top inch of soil is dry, it’s in a terracotta pot, and I checked the roots today; no root rot and the roots are very healthy. Also, the colors are in every leaf😩

Hmm. It looks like there might be a problem with your fertilizer, do you fertilize every time you water? It looks like the plant is trying to push out something bad it soaked up, so you might be over fertilizing. My only other guess is the grow light is too strong and its burning the leaves,l 🤷

It was like this before the grow lights and I don’t fertilize that often. I got it from Cosco and it had no light at all. Maybe it’s shock from no light to a bunch of light?

Hmm definitely not, if anything it would grow exponentially from the upgraded light. Other possibility is there was a bacterial infection it was fighting on its own. Atp I would just trim the dead parts off and leave her to her own devices!

Is it fairly new? I agree with Plantguy to remove the damaged parts and keep an eye on her. You didn’t say anything about the soil. Did you repot her from the Costco pot? Their soil is usually horrible and holds moisture too long. You said you were watering when the top inch is dry - how long does that end up being?

Yes, I repotted into a terracotta pot with houseplant soil and perlite. Come to think of it I’ve watered it once since I have had it.
