hi everyone! i’m a new plant owner and im really not adept at any of this, but i want to learn! anyone know if my rosemary plant is dying from the roots or is this normal? (it’s a bit crooked just bc the small greenhouse i have it in is a little short) i got it from the grocery store about 2-3 weeks ago and repotted it the next day (all purpose indoor potting mix). gets full sun and watered only once a week or so, and fertilized one time with all purpose plant food (1-1-1) just a few days ago. haven’t really done anything else to it. i notoriously have a black thumb so im trying real hard to fix that lol. any feedback is appreciated (:

If this were my plant, I think I would top it, and let it grow fuller than it is now. It seems rather leggy, and appears to be leaning in one direction. Sometimes that means a plant needs to be turned in order to get more light on its other side, so hopefully, your plant will correct its lean. Doing those two things may help you to have a prettier, healthier plant. Good luck!

thank you so much! i trimmed her a few inches! and i’ll make sure to rotate her every day or so. the spot she’s in now gets a lot of light, and it’s the only spot in my apartment that gets enough. it’s been cloudy and raining the last few days though, so hopefully when the sun comes back out she’ll be ready for some new growth!

Super! It sounds like you’re doing all the right things, but I also wanted to add, be sure to use fertilizer, which I’m sure you know already!

It does not look like it’s dying. It’s reaching for light. They like full sun at least 6 hours a day. A grow light can help.

I agree with Lynda that trimming and rotating it will help it. I kept a rosemary plant for years in a pot. It gets thicker and more shrub like when trimmed. 🪴🍀

Sunny and Lynda are right—more light and a trim!

He’s leaning to reach for more light. When they don’t have enough light plants will get “leggy”, meaning they get long/taller and the leaves will get further between because the growth is all into stretching for more light rather than leaf and foliage production.
