Hello everyone,

I recently found sticky sappy dots all over my Florida beauty what pest causes this? I use systemic granules in my soil and regularly clean leaves and stems with neem and gleam spray. Is this due to pests or something the plant naturally produces? I looked it up on google it says it could be due to pests. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I’m not sure about the Florida Beauty, but my Lime Fiddle has the same sticky sappy dots, but on the stems only. I was told it was something the plant does to attract ants to feed on and in return they get protected by them from other pests. Supposedly some Philodendrons do this. Again I’m not sure about the Florida. If you don’t see scales or mealy bugs, one of these squirts a sticky sap, I wouldn’t be concerned if your plant is healthy.

Generally if its harmless production of "honeydew" it will be on the stems. If you're seeing it on the leaves, especially the underside. I would treat for pests

Great! It’s only on the stems but I’ll keep an eye out just in case. Thank you.
