# Hello! I’ve had this night blooming cactus for about a year and a…

_Posted by planetpalm on 2025-08-18_

Hello!
I’ve had this night blooming cactus for about a year and a half. Recently these black spots have been popping up on her underside, the spots aren’t mushy they’re on the harder side. Is this something to be concerned about and can it be fixed? (She’s on the windowsill of a south facing window and gets watered once maybe twice a month)
Thank you in advance!

I just posted this as well and apparently they’re scale eggs. I’m not sure how to get rid of them but would love to find out!

best of luck hope your plant makes a speedy recovery!

Yeah that looks like scale. I use a paper towel/q-tip/cotton ball dipped in rubbing alcohol to rub the existing scale off, then spray with Neem oil for a week or so to prevent any further eggs from attaching
