We got mushrooms growing in our pots of peppers and tomatoes and I think it’s the same kind. Supposedly they’re harmless to the plants and just liked the fertilizer so I just picked them and tossed them

thank god bc the bag of soil was still full so i didn’t want to have to toss it, thanks!

I’m told that mushrooms appearing in an established, potted plant means the soil is healthy. I occasionally have this happen with succulents, and it’s maybe one brave, squiggly mushroom that melts the day the sun comes up. I have assumed direct sun keeps the mushrooms from mass colonization.

I welcome any and all “you’re completely wrong” by experts. To stress again, I’m speaking for soft succulents/cactus under bright lights who don’t receive a ton of moisture.

ahh okay, these appeared in a bag of soil but good to know i might not have to toss it all if it indicates healthy soil

I have seen that in soil/compost and I pull the mushrooms out of the soil and throw them in the green waste bin and use the soil without issues to the veggie garden. Seems to be fine

Mushrooms are actually good for plants. The mycelium (underground mushroom network) helps nutrient availability to plant roots. It’s a cool thing to research.

ohh cool, i was worried bc i know root rot is a fungal issue so i thought little mushrooms might somehow cause similar fungal issues but that’s good to know!
