# PLEASE HELP! My string of dolphins has had leaves and some branches…

PLEASE HELP! My string of dolphins has had leaves and some branches starting to dry and rot. The app hadn’t marked it yet for watering, but since the soil was so dry, I decided to water it, it’s now been three days and not looking much better. I’m afraid if it’s root rot somehow, or if I just need to give it more time to recover from a drought. Any insight or advice on which may be the case would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm not sure what's going on but root rot does not occur with just one time watering a little early. I will assume your pot has a drain hole. It could be how your plant is coiled around into what looks like a bird nest. I really couldn't say for sure but maybe that impedes the air flow causing a buildup of humidity close to the pot. I'm not sure that makes sense.

That makes sense to me, it was coiled when he arrived and was hesitant to uncoil them if the branches would do so themselves. (If you can’t tell I’ve had a rocky history with my string succulents so I really want this little guy to stay) thank you for the advice!!
