What the fresh hell is this thing??

Found at the bottom of a pot of delosperma, sandy light soil, terracotta, its been a wet, chilly english summer…. This thing is maybe 6-8mm long.

Thats all the info I have. Friend or foe?

Thank you for those results. So I guess it’s a beetle pupa; one of a few possibilities, and none of them good news 😕👍

No but seriously I’m a sucker so ofc I made it a new home in a little plant pot and it will probably come back to destroy my lovely plants but… 🤷‍♀️

It looks backlit. Like it has its own LED light. Creepy! This is a first for me and hopefully a last.
