# I need help with my monstera! I just recently got her and repotted…

_Opslået af Emily den 2024-11-07_

I need help with my monstera! I just recently got her and repotted her into a bigger pot. She started wilting and getting yellow leaves, and I snip them off. I checked her roots and snipped off potential root rot? I gave her a fresh new chunky mix and waited to water her for a bit so roots could recover but she’s still wilting a little. Anyone know what’s happening?

she might be in a little bit of shock, this happens when they get repotted it’s totally normal but yk not really wanted but keep doing what you’re doing and snipping the yellow leaves, try not to move her out of that pot anymore she’s probably really stressed, also if it keeps happening she might need to go back in her original pot because she wasn’t ready but she should be fine in a week or so! another thing i have done is put a bag over my plants when they’re a little stressed to keep humidity in and keep them warm

Ignore her completely for two weeks, and see what happens. Genuinely, my monsteras are happiest when vaguely ignored apart from watering.

Looks like transplant shock, but a bigger pot could also indicate overwatering so, when you do water, use a wooden bbq skewer to check she’s actually dry

Yeah I I’ve checked and she’s been fully dry for a little bit I’m nervous to water her next because I thought it was root rot

Looks like overwatering especially since you had root rot previously, maybe you are still overwatering. My water meter usually reads dry deep into the pot before I water. Then I touch test to be sure. Then water till water shows in saucer, and then sometimes repeat to make sure all the soil is moist. But could also be lack of fertilizer.

I bought a little moisture meter stick to help

She has to adjust to a new environment, new watering schedule and new water/fertilizer. Additionally, she is adjusting to her roots getting disturbed/damaged with repotting. It’s a lot on the plant.

I agree with leaving her alone for a couple of weeks so she can acclimate. Also, the new pot should be only 2 inches wider than the original nursery pot to prevent overwatering from too much soil holding too much water on the roots. 🍀🪴
