I’ve seen a little knat flying around my plants. Does that mean one of my plants is infested. How can I tell which plant would have bugs??? Yikes. I’m a new plant lover. Am I over reacting.

They are likely fungus gnats. If you tousle the leaves or lift the pots they will likely fly out. But if one has it there are likely more

Oh No. I can’t figure out which plant it is.

I sprayed the soil with a diluted hydrogen peroxide mixture. I read that that helps. I only seen one I sprayed the soul for three days now

Use yellow sticky traps too. They can help eliminate some of the flying adults. I also used some small bowls with apple cider vinegar, plastic wrap over the top and some holes poked in the plastic. They get in but can’t get out. Watering from the bottom helps I understand because the larvae is in the top inch or so of soil.

Thanks. I’m going to start doing bottom watering from now on I read up o how to do that. It is worth the extra steps todo that

I use a "Katchy" it's an electrical device that catches the gnats and traps them on a sticky pad located in the bottom of the device. I have very good luck with it. However a lot of people recommend using systematic granules prior to watering to combat these tiny pests. 😊

That’s a good idea but it doesn’t solve the source of the knats right?

I discovered the culprit and it was the money plant I over watered months ago. I saved most of the plant but what I didn’t realize is that it got a fungus which caused the knats. I clipped some branches to proprogate but honestly I threw the rest of the plant in the trash. It’s beyond saving that soil. I’ll start a new plant with fresh soil

I didn’t want it to infest my other plants so I threw it in the trash and sealed it up. My other plants are all good. I inspected them all. ☘️🌱😁

1\. You can try and get a carnivorous plant
2\. Get yellow fly sticky traps
3\. Spray the top inches of soil with rubbing alcohol.
4\. Only bottom water your plant.

The alcohol won’t kill the plant?

Nope
