Hey there! Does anyone know how long it will take these guys to grow some roots?

3-4 weeks if they don’t rot 🪴🌱

You should see roots in about two weeks or less for the tradescantia. They have thread thin roots.

I cannot see the other cutting. It should take about two weeks to see the first root if the other cutting is a pothos or philodendron.

I have a tradescantia water prop and it took 2/3 weeks for any roots to start forming, it started to perk up a bit before I noticed the roots

Root powder helps get the process going too.

Hmmm, I don’t know what I did differently, but mine had roots in a week. 🤔 I had my purple tradescantia cuttings (grown in dirt over fall to put back in my hanging baskets this spring) in the garage under a grow light, crammed with other plants, over winter. It got bumped several times and had pieces break off each time. I just pealed off the lower leaf or two depending on how big it was, and sat it in a glass jar with enough water to cover those joints. The roots grow from the joint where the leaves were growing. I poured out half that water each day and added fresh (just tap) water. The logic on the daily half water change is that it adds oxygen to the water but leaves some of the rooting hormone the plant is producing. The jar just sat on the counter in my kitchen, no window. Hope that helps!❤️

healthy cuttings of tradescantia, epipremnum (pothos), philodendron, and monstera all root within a week in good growing conditions but it may take up to two or three weeks indoors or if the plant is sickly. i’ve had tradescantia start rooting overnight but it usually takes 2-3 days at least to see any signs of growth even in the best circumstances. for future reference, there is a “propagating and sowing” group for posts like this :-)

I had some cuttings that didn’t grow hardly any roots alllll winter. I’m talking months of pretty little change. Now that it’s warm and I keep up with changing the water, they’re flourishing and throwing new leaves AND new roots!
