# Greetings, Newbie here. Sick African Violet which I repotted due to…

Greetings,  
Newbie here. Sick African Violet which I repotted due to overwatering. Current status pic is one with the greened leaves. I admit that it seems I was a bit sloppy with the repotting, dirt fell on leaves and such and just discovered how I need to be careful not to get water on the leaves when watering. But now I’m concerned about thrips. I cannot distinguish dirt from thrips. I don’t see anything moving, but have seen what look like fruit flies flying around the plant.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How often is your watering schedule it looks overwatered!

I see no thrips, only dirt. The tiny flies are probably fungus gnats, who want to eat the decaying/dead leaves. I've found my african violet has done really well with a self-watering style pot. Yours seems to be well on its way to a full recovery 😀

I dont know why I havent had much luck with African violets. You have inspired me to try maybe one more time it has been a while. Good luck!

I ended up misting the plant and soil with a very diluted solution of neem and cleaned up the decaying leaves. Time to let it rest and recuperate.
