# Okay guys! I just checked my snowball succulent to see if the water…

Okay guys! I just checked my snowball succulent to see if the water was hydrophobic or if there was root rot, and has soon as I got it out of the pot, water started dripping from the soil…. I squeezed the soil a bit and tons of water came out of it! Is it time for a repot? IS the water hydrophobic? Root rot?! Help me!!

this is after bottom watering, correct? i think the soil probably absorbed a good amount of water, and is no longer hyrdophobic if it was before.
as for your concern about root rot, you can check the roots while you have it out of the pot. if you see any black, mushy roots, cut them off and spray with a diluted mix of hydrogen peroxide to help kill any bacteria. this would also be a good time to change the soil if you want. give it a good, well draining chunky succulant mix if you do decide to switch.

also, about the brown water (from your last post), is it clear or murky? if it is clear, it might be built up minerals, salts or fertilizer from the original soil. this is not bad or harmful, but if it happens again, you can flush the soil by TOP watering, let it drain for a few minutes, then repeat the process until the water runs clear!

TLDR; a repot wouldnt hurt! make sure the new pot you use is only 1-2 inches bigger than the root ball, and as i said before, use a chunky well draining succulant/cactus soil!

hope this helps :)

Thank you! That helped me figure out a lot of things! I appreciate the very helpful comment and I will definitely be repotting. I’ll attach a picture below of the water - thanks for remembering my last post 😌

For the diluted mix of hydrogen peroxide and water, what percentages do you use for the spray? Also, do you spray the tip of the stem or do you spray the entire stem? THX 😊
