# {Then >> Now} My White Butterfly is unhappy and I cannot figure out…

_Posted by Jojo on 2026-10-18_

{Then >> Now}
My White Butterfly is unhappy and I cannot figure out how to get her back to a happy state. I don’t think she has been under-watered (as the soil -even at its driest- has never been bone dry). I’ve moved her all around the downstairs to see if she’s happier in certain places: east facing window, west facing window, on the island in open air/part shade.. I just don’t know what to do! Look at all that new growth! Someone please help! 🥺

I recently gave all of mine a reset. Chopped them all the way back to let them start over, although my purpose was mostly for propagation. But if it were my plant, that’s what I’d do. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice! I’m going to giver her a hair cut and hopefully that will save her.

She’ll come back 🙂

Is she ready for a new pot? She is very beautiful and I wish you the best! If it's not time for a repot I agree with the comment above. It's always good to chop some unhealthy off as its easier for the plant to put her energy into the healthy leaves instead of trying to save some dying ones too.

I just got her maybe 2-3 weeks ago and she’s not root bound, but if she doesn’t like tight spaces that could be it! From the reading I’ve done, it seems they’re quite finicky so maybe she’s still just adjusting?? Thanks again for your advice!!

You can prop the ones you've cut off and repot them! She'll be beautiful again!!!
