Hi, I was checking to see if my plants need to be repotted and I noticed large cluster of white beads in some of my plants. Can anyone tell me what this is and what I should do or if this is normal?

Commenting to get notified because I’m curious as to what that is!

It looks like the fungus spores for “flower pot parasols” otherwise called Leucocoprinus birnbaumii. It is a gilled mushroom that is often found in flowerpots and greenhouses in temperate regions. It has a small, bright lemon yellow, oval or bell-shaped cap, yellowish gills, and a ring on the stem.

Overwatering of potted plants can cause them to appear and they are difficult to manage once established.

They work to break down organic matter found in soils and they do not harm living plants. However, remove mushrooms as soon as they appear if pets or small children have access to the area. If you want to get rid of the mushrooms in potting mix, you can try: Sunlight, Cold nights, and Completely changing out the potting mix in the pot.

“Spore” may not be the most accurate term. I’m not super familiar with the mushroom life cycle. But I do recognize the pic as what I see on my soil before the mushrooms appear, for what it’s worth.

It’s a fungus that’s thriving in the moisture rich environment. I would wear gloves and repot it with fresh soil. The other response about this goes into fantastic detail.

Yeah, fungus and other beneficial soil microbes. I have bioactive setups for my snake and tarantulas, and this is a sign of healthy, moist soil.
