Hey everyone,

I need some help with my Chinese money plant. About a month ago I realized I was overwatering it because some of the leaves were rotting at the ends. I cleaned the roots, gave it some fresh soil and adjusted its watering schedule. All was well for a while but recently I’ve noticed some of the leaves aren’t expanding and the new ones are growing brown. Is this still overwatering? I’m starting to think that the pot itself might not be draining properly.

I’d rule out overwatering first, this happened to me when I overwatered my Chinese coin!

It looks like it needs a chunkier soil

Well, to rule the soil and pot itself out, what type of soil is it (what is the mix made of or what brand is it), and what kind of pot is it (ceramic, terra cotta, does it have drainage holes, etc.)? If it’s ceramic, it’s possible it’s holding too much moisture for the pilea, as they’re better suited for very tropical plants that have a high humidity need and don’t like drying out. All my peperomia are in plastic pots with multiple drainage holes, but if you’re worried about overwatering, getting a terra cotta pot with a large drainage hole is also good for pilea. Hope this helps!
