# Just reported my philodendron sodiroi last week and treated with neem…

_Pubblicato da Lacee il 2024-06-02_

Just reported my philodendron sodiroi last week and treated with neem oil yesterday (as a preventative, no pests so far) and the next day I found the bottom leaves a neon yellow!! Have been watering once a week, last water was last Sunday, about 4 ft from a window, has a grow light as well.. it does not look like the kind of yellowing you get from over watering.. and happened overnight! Anybody seen this??

This is almost definitely overwatering. Once a week is usually way too often, especially for a plant of that size. Philodendrons need to be 75-100% dry before being watered. The way I check is by sticking a wooden skewer or chopstick in the pot, waiting a minute, and if it comes out clean and dry, I water. Also, I suspect that pot is too big, it should only be a little bigger than the root ball.

Thank you for the advice!!! I had it planted in only 1 inch smaller plant but the roots were coming out of the bottom so replanted. I will use the chop stick method from now on!!! Should I replant into a smaller pot again? Or leave as is ?

I think it would probably be fine staying where it is, but if it starts getting much worse I would replant and treat for root rot

Make sure that your philodendron is a bit dryer after you water it. avoid overwatering. 🪴🌊

Also, all plants are not fully hardy. When transferring plants it’s Important to understand that change can cause big effects, like for humans, moving out of the home. Your plant might be experiencing a little bit of shock because you repotted it don’t repotted again. 😰Just leave it be and create a water schedule that fits its needs.🪴🪴😄🤟🏻
