I’m sorry I’m not of much help but make sure you kill that lantern fly!!! They were eating my strawberry plants, that might be the problem here.

Plant Mommy- thanks😊 I did look them up as a culprit- and it says they do not prefer rose bushes for eating.? I could definitely understand them wanting a strawberry plant😘🪴 They are troublemakers for sure

Look on the bottom of the leaves for sawfly larvae (they're small and look like caterpillars). Also look for japanese beetles. In either case, you can treat with pesticides or get some praying mantises for natural predation. And look up whether spotted lanternflies are invasive where you live. If they are, kill every single one you see; their spread is recent and can still be fought. They're also pretty showy, so you can sell intact ones to be pinned as display mounts

Thank you for your help- I will inspect closer - my husband snapped the pics for me at the time, but he said he couldn’t find any insects.. I’ll take a peek. And yes- last few years the Lantern bugs have been on the “exterminate” list- It’s been a very rainy season here in NJ- not fun! But once the weather dries up a bit I’ll apply product. Thanks again😊
