So this is what is left of my Hoya Kerrii. When I got it in the mail it had lots of leaves. Then they just started dropping off. I’m wondering if I can save it at all?? Maybe put in water?

So you do need leaves because that’s how plants take in energy and sunlight. Some plants can grow without a leaf. But unfortunately this one won’t make it 😞 see if you can get a refund for it. Since they didn’t send it with proper care.

And did you plant it and then it started dropping leaves? Or did it happen after you got it and wasn’t planted

I ordered it from ETSY. When I got it I. The mail it was in pot. After a couple of days the leaves just started dropping off so I took it out of the dirt and cut off bad roots. Wasn’t sure if it can be propagated in water?

Yes, as long as the stems not rotting. it's called wet stick. Either submerge one of the nodes. Or lay it on top of damp moss/perlite/ or stratum. And good lighting. Keeping it misted

Remember hoyas are slow. You might apply rooting powder to speed up the recovery

This one was just a stem when I put it in water and now it has 2 tiny leaves. Just be patient it took quite a while to get leaves and they are very slow growing. Good luck

Thank you for responding. Just to clarify you put the stem in water and just left it? How often did you change the water and did you add anything like nutrients etc. to the water? Also. About how long did it take for you to get those 2 leaves? Thanks again.

Well I'm just learning a lot on this app so I made a lot of mistakes I put it in water to root but only changed the water if it got cloudy. I didn't use and additives (which would of helped I'm sure) I planted it when the roots where good but the leaves came after that. I would say about 2 weeks later but I really didn't keep close track ( sorry ). This app has helped a lot for that and now I add notes so I will have better ideas about how the progress goes.
