# This otherwise healthy peacock plant now has small brown spots on top…

This otherwise healthy peacock plant now has small brown spots on top of the leaves and sticky wet spot underneath. Any ideas on what is going on? I only use distilled water and diluted fertilizer according to Planta schedule.

Sticky residue can be a sign of thrips. I didn’t get the brown spots last year, but the sticky was on multiple leaves. The only thing that worked was a combination of systemic granules and Bonide Super Soap

So, sticky residue can be a sign of pests, but it can also be released to lure in beneficial insects. I would check it over really well for signs of pests. If you can find anything, I wouldn’t worry about it as long as the plant seems to be doing well.

The brown carved out spots are very suspicious though.

I’ve had the plant for about two years and have never had this issue before. I washed the plant and removed all the old soil and repotted. I’ll keep an eye on it though.
