Hard to tell with scale but if we’re talking houseplants here or nearby I’d say thrip

They’re about half the size of an adult fungus gnat

I’ve only seen them around the plants and they’re a dark grey color

Well if your plants aren’t damaged in anyway then I’d say you’re in the clear, however if you start noticing leaf discoloration or damage spots then you’ve probably got pests
