# I think I’m under watering my monstera. It hasn’t put out any new…

I think I’m under watering my monstera. It hasn’t put out any new growth in a long time. How much water do you think this bad boi needs? It’s right in a northwest window corner and the pot is about 12” across and 18” deep. The soil ALWAY feels dry and registers as dry on a meter. I think because I’ve been afraid to overwater it, I’ve swung too far in the other direction. What say you, people of planta?

When is the last time you repotted her? I think she needs a bigger pot maybe. Not to sure about the watering but I like to give mine a amount of water and let it all drain out of the drain holes and let the soil dry out before watering again.

She needs a bigger pot and monsteras need plenty water. 🚿 some people even put her in the shower and simulate hurricanes 🌀

I was afraid you were going to say repot! This pot is already soooo heavy. That was…probably a mistake

Put it in a plastic pot. Then, drop the plant into a heavy terracotta or ceramic pot to keep it from toppling.

Take the plant out of the heavy pot to water. Water until the water flows through. Fully drain before placing it back into the heavy outer pot. You can also bottom water by setting it in a bucket or pan of water until the top soil is moist. Then, fully drain before putting the plant back into the heavy outer pot. Don’t fully trust the water meter. Always check the soil. Water when it’s dry. 🪴🍀
